Movement Bonuses in Aion

Aion is one of the few games in which the moves you do actually contribute to your fight. This way the fights become more dynamic and since Aion is a game in which details really count you will want to use this to become a master in PvP.

I am sure that by now all of you saw those yellow arrows, those are the indicators of the movement bonuses, using those moves will give you a specific bonus but will also apply penalties.

Moving Forward:

Bonus:
+10% Physical Damage
+10% Magic Damage

Penalty:

-20% Physical Defense
-20% Magic Damage

Moving Backwards:

Bonus:

+500% to Parry
+500% to Block

Penalty:

-70% Physical Damage
-40% Movement Speed

Left and Right Strafe:

Bonus:

+300% to Evasion

Penalty:

-70% Physical Damage
-20% Movement Speed

This bonuses can come in handy when you are killing something PvP or PvE, for example when a boss use a special skill you can increase your chance to parry or block by moving backwards or strafe to have a higher chance to dodge it.

Manastone socketing

Nothing is more stressful for me in this game than socketing my gear. The emotions, the hope and then the madness that gets me when my 5th socket fails it can not be described in words(well maybe it can but i would not use those words on public haha!).
At start i used to just spam manastones in and clearly that was a pain. Then i started to wait a few hours before i try to socket another one after a successful try.

And then in a conversation with someone i got this awesome tip! I have tried it and yes it improves your chances greatly even if sometimes it will fail, you still have more chances and you will use way less manastones this way!

Basically the idea is  use white manastones to socket another item preferable high level items so the manastones will fail, once it failed twice make a try on the item that you want to socket.
Also i always make a break after i successfully socket. A few hours or so, not sure if it actually helps but i like to believe it does.
With this method i managed to socket all my gear and it rarely failed.
Like i mentioned before there is still a chance to fail but it is a smaller one. If you are really rich maybe you can use supplements to boost your success rate. I'm too poor for that and even if i wouldn't be i don't think i would pay that much!

Have fun and may your sockets be full!

A tribute to all Seasons (Daevian gloves quest)

If you think you saw boredom until now wait till you get to this quest. During the runs i did on this quest i had enough time to think at the important questions of life like "how did we come to existence?", "where am i going with my life" you will have plenty of time to answer this questions since all you have to do is run around in Oriel or Pernon and find some plants that you can kill in 3 shots and hope it will drop one of the quest item.
Sadly i have only the elyos locations, but if any of you have the locations in Pernon i will gladly complete this post with them. You can email me at aionhelpblog@gmail.com !
To complete this quest you will need 100 Cool Fragrant Energy and 100 Warm Fragrant Energy.
Cool Fragrant Energy drops from :
  • Foliage Audria
  • Sunset Audria
  • Ice Audria
  • Snowflower Audria

Warm Fragrant Energy drops from:

  • Vernal Audria
  • Sprouting Audria
  • Sweltering Audria
  • Rain Audria

You will find the most winter flowers in the winter season and the most summer flowers in the summer season. On the summer location map you can see that i don't have so many that's because i started doing the quest on autumn and winter ( i will update the location map as soon as the summer starts).
If you don't know when each seasons starts in Aion check this link.
Also when you loot the flowers you will get one of the Aether Gems, this items are needed for the Nomad Shugo Merchants quests and by completing this quests you can get some nice pieces of furniture.
Check this link for the Nomad Shugo schedule

After you finished gathering everything you can choose from one of this items :

Nomad Shugo Merchants

This special merchants only appear at certain dates on different places in the housing zones. They give special quests for which you need the Aether gems you collect from killing the Audrias that you find in the housing zones and as reward you get random furniture or housing items. Also you will find some special vendors with some really expensive items so if you want to invest lots of money in your house this are the Shugos for it!

This are the locations for Oriel:

Locations for Pernon:
As you can see they appear for 2 in game days or 4 hours real life time from 15 to 17 of each month except January - April - July and October.

Seasonal Agrints

As you noticed by now seasons has been added to Aion, besides the Agrints the seasons also play a important role in the daevian 2nd quest (which i promise i will post during this week).

 The seasons are:
  • Spring season from March to May
  • Summer from June to August
  • Autumn from September to November
  • Winter from December to February
Keep in mind that a month in Aion always has 31 days and that aion day is 2 hours which means that a real life day is 12 days in Aion.
The agrint will appear at the beginning of each ingame month in Elyos or Asmo housing zone. The boss will be a Big Tree on which you can do only 1 damage so i advice you not to use the best damage weapon but the fastest. I just buy a set of white daggers use all my speed buffs and mau form and most of the times i've been first on damage.
When the boss dies only the league that made the most damage can loot it but there will be some small plants Audria for Elyos and Umbronite for Asmos.
Hint: If you just open it without loot it no one else can loot it so you can try to open as many as possible and loot them after.
The plants drop housing items like letters and numbers and the way more important it drops the Life Leaf which is used to craft the bike mounts and also sell at list on my server for 20kk+.

Muada Empress Tactics

First of all i don't understand how they realize this worm is a she. But then again worms aren't my domain so I'm sure they have a logical explanation for that.

This boss has a daily quest which really worth doing. If you want the Kahrun items you want as many Symbols as possible and with this daily quest you might be lucky enough to get 100 Kahrun from 1 box.
It happened to me once i got 103 Symbols from the box but it also happened to get only 6 or 8 from it usually it drops between 10 - 20 Symbols.

Now for tactics, this boss has 4 phases with a transition phase that comes every 25%.
When you start the fight you will want to  hug the boss or be not further then 7 meters away from the boss.
In the first phase the boss will do Ray Thorns which is an AoE (area of effect) skill that will hit any players that are further then 7 meters away from the boss, so all you have to do is hug the boss and try and stay behind so you won't get the DoT (damage on time) on you except of course if you are a tank in which case you tank it in the middle. When the boss is at 75% he will stunt everyone around and go into the 2second phase.

The second phase will start at 75% HP. In this phase lots of mobs appear and there are 2 ways to handle this. There is the "kill the borrows" method because those are the ones that make the mob appear, i suppose that in this case you will want to have DPS assigned to kill those as soon as possible. But i never actually did it this way so i can't give you a detailed way of doing it.
The way everyone does it on my server is by Kitting the boss around the room and the mobs, strong damage buffs should be done in this phase everyone runs around mages and other range classes are the ones that make the difference in this phase. As a ranger i always try to trap as many little worms as possible since they disappear after a while.
So basically in the 2nd phase you will run around and do as much damage as possible while moving.

At 50% the transition phase kicks in again and everyone will get stunt.  The start of this phase will be tricky if you choose to kite the boss in the 2nd phase because the worms will still be around for a while and there will be 2 skills that the boss will alternate first one will be the same as in the first phase Ray Thornes so you need to be next to the boss and the she will do Swipping Blow.
For Swipping Blow you need to run away from the boss at list 15 meters. Otherwise you will get around 6k damage and also be knocked back for a few seconds.
Once the other worms are gone you can pull the boss in the middle and keep reacting at mobs skills. As range this is easy to do but the melee DPS looses some damage done by running out for sweeping blow, from what i saw if the healing is decent then most of the melee choose not to run back. Both Ray Thornes and Swipping Blow will do around 6k damage.

At 25% the boss will go under she will put everyone on top of her and stunt all players, you need to run out of the zone at the edge of the room and wait until the boss surface back.
Most of the times she will come back buffed with "Rage" i suggest staying as far as possible from the boss if you are range since in the 4th phase she will only use Swipping Blow, so you can stop putting pressure on healers and just stay at list 15 meters away from the boss.

The boss is really not hard hard if you pay attention make sure that you register at a kisk from outside and you will need some luck when you enter back if the boss is in 3rd phase - since your HP will be low if the boss does one of the skills in the next few seconds you will most probably die.

Sorry for the wall of text but at list now if someone asks "everyone knows tactics?"  you won't lie about it by saying "Yes!".

Steps to the Spear (Daevanion Boots Quest)

This is the first quest, and even if it appears like an easy one i assure you it is not! Unless of course you have some Spiritmaster friends that can help you.
You pick up the quest from Kahrun and you have 13 minutes to run around Sarpan and Tiamaranta and talk with 4 NPC's. Some of the NPC's are tricky to get to so you might want to check their locations first.
Use any buffs and skills that can increase your running speed, without those you will most fail for sure. Also in case you think you can put up a Kisk on one of the locations die and then rez. to the next NPC you can't, if you die the quest will fail. (Trust me I've tried it)

After picking up the quest you will have to fly to Western Guardian Seal to talk to Emita. She is on top of a tower. There is a mob right at the stairs, just CC it and keep moving.

After you talked with her, use a Kamar scroll and fly to Hushblade Garrison where you have to talk with Ampria. Keep in mind that the terrain there is very fragmented and if you look at the map at Ampria location you will actually have to jump and glide to it.
Now for the 3rd one i suggest having your Return set on Notus Outpost, this way you can reduce the time of flying from Raccora to Notus. As another option you can set up your Return for Cindercone, but the distance from Notus to Raccora is bigger then the one from Raccora to Cindercone.
As you arrived to Notus Outpost you will have to run behind it and find the portal shown in the picture.
This portal will take you on the highest floating Island from where you will have to jump and glide to the 3rd NPC location.

After this in function of where you choose to set up your Return fly or Return to Cindercone from where as you exit the Outpost you must keep running on the right side around the mountain.

Once you talk with this Tinotia scroll to Kamar and go back to talk with Kahrun.
As an easy alternative take some Spiritmaster friends and ask them to summon you at the NPC's location but it's way more fun to do it this way!

Enjoy!

Fixing latency for MMO's

I've been using this program for quite a while now, and yes it does work. I started using it while playing WoW a few years ago and it reduced my latency from 250 ms to less then a half. Even if it was designed for WoW it does work for Aion also, and we all know how much resources Aion needs so everything that can help is welcomed.
A very funny way to describe how it works is provided by the authors:
If you could listen to a conversation between your computer and the game server, this is what you would hear.
Before Leatrix Latency Fix is installed:
  • Server: "Ok computer, I just sent a data packet over to you, got it?"
  • Your computer: ...
  • Server: "Come on, answer me! I don't have all day! Stop wasting time!"
  • Your computer: ...
  • Server: "Ok, forget it, I've waited long enough, sending another one over! Got it?"
  • Your computer: "Yep, got that one, also got the one you sent before, thanks."
  • Server: "Well, why didn't you acknowledge the first one when I sent it? I was waiting ages!"
  • Your computer: "Sorry, I'm just trying to make the network more efficient by bundling the acknowledgements together in pairs. This is how I'm setup by default."
After Leatrix Latency Fix is installed:
  • Server: "Ok computer, I just sent a data packet over, got it?"
  • Your computer: "Yep, send the next!"
  • Server: "That was fast! Ok, here's another, got that?"
  • Your computer: "Yep, send the next!"
  • Server: "Wow! What an improvement! Now that's more like it!"
  • Your computer: "Yep, it's certainly keeping me on my toes, thanks!

Enjoy!

Aturam Sky Fortress

This is the first dungeon you will encounter in the new patch 3.0.  First thing you will notice: they hit really bad and there are many many mobs on stealth, making the dungeon difficult and challenging.
At the moment i can not give you a correct loot table but from the drops i had you can get a blue set and if you are really lucky fable ring, belt and earrings.

So after you've killed first 4 mobs you hit an elevator hit it go down and pick up the quests from the fake balaur. Even if you don't need XP still you should take the quest cuz you will kill those mobs anyway.
First thing to do is to kill about 5 "crystals". Note that near each crystal there is 1 mob visible and 1 invisible, and that after you kill it there will be 1 more mob spwaming that will attack you.

After you killed all those 5 plus the many  mobs around you will go for the first boss. Not a very hard boss if you have some good 55 items. As an advice keep some burst damage for the last 25% since at that part he will start spwaming lots of walking bombs which you must avoid or else they explode for about 3k damage on you. I only remembered about the screenshot after killing the boss, so i have one of the room  :S .

Now as you just go out thru the first door at the "fake balaur quest giver" on your left you will see another opened door. That's the way to the next boss called Weapon H.
After you kill the first mob you encounter if you look on your right as you entered you will see a crystal (it's a small one but it's very clear as setup). Once you click on it you are getting "Sayan" powers!!!! More attack speed, more attack, more of everything basically, you will have that buff for the rest of the instance except the last boss.
The path to the boss is pretty much linear, lots of mobs again, very hard to take just 1 and kill.
Weapon H is a very easy fight with just 1 trick. First you need to kill that first thing in front of the boss, after that you will notice the boss is surrounded by a shield, what you need to do is to kill those 4 small boxes that around the arena where the boss is standing initially. The idea is to do it while kitting the boss cuz he still does a lot of dmg. Also he has a skill which he will use about once every 40 seconds with which he will pull you and then use a damage spell that does around 3.5k damage. Use running scrolls and any other speed buffs you have to kite him and get out of the AoE skill.

Now the fun begins you will be unstoppable using this machine:

Go at the landing zone and click on the middle one,  a cinematic will fallow in which it shows you flying to an area with lots of balaurs. The fights are extremely easy. A machine with just 4 buttons made to kill and stunt. I ain't even going to explain how it works that easy it is :P .
And after you killed the hordes of balaurs your machine will be destroyed by the last boss (or one of the fire imagines)
Last boss is hard if you are not so good geared and even for the good geared it's still a challenge (in function of the NRG).
I advice you to have all buffs possible and all cooldowns ready!
After you did about 25% damage, she will disappear and a "Venom" image will appear (i always had problems with names specially on Aion where sometimes it looks like they are made by smashing your hand of the keyboard) anyway you will see it's green and easy to kill but keep in mind to use a greater healing potion or a dispel to remove the debuff you get. After you killed it the boss comes again take down another 25% or so and she(don't ask me how i know it's a she :S ) will bring 3 Fire Images, now this fire images are really nasty, i play a ranger so i just trap them and then take them 1 by 1, but if you can't use CC,s then i advise run and nuke since they die easy but they also do a lot of damage. Keep in mind that if you CC them don't stay next to them, at some point they will self destruct you will see a red area on the ground, does nasty damage. After that 2 things can happen you neighter get a nice crit or 2 and you kill the boss or she has enough time to spwam the Ice images which also hit a lot but i didn't really have a problem with those, unless your HP is low due to the fight.

OBSERVATIONS!

There are a few bugs at this boss and no, not the good kind of bugs.  If you manage to take it's HP to 25% in a few seconds but you can't kill it immediately you might have the surprise to get all the images at once! (happened to me :| ).  Or sometimes you already killed it and while you are happy looking at the golden loots you got or unhappy looking at the 10k Kinah you got the Ice images come and nuke you!

Have fun and good luck with the drops!

Where is Tigraki and Black Cloud Island

Today i was sitting arround doing my usual business and i see in LFG chat someone asking "Where is Tigraki Island?". And it hit me! Yes i have been looking for that quite a while when i was lower level, checked on internet there was nothing at list not at that time, so i thought to make a post with this.

Just be careful both of them are PvP zones, but since 3.0 came out not many stay in abyss anymore, at least not on my server.

Good luck and have fun!
